Ukraine will deliver 25,000 tonnes of grain to Nigeria as part of the Grain from Ukraine program and is considering building a logistics hub in the African nation to facilitate grain and food deliveries, news service Ukrinform reported, citing the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.

Minister Mykola Solskyi’s met with Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama and Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar as part of a delegation that has been visiting African countries. The delegation also visited Senegal and Ghana.

Solskyi said Ukraine continues to supply food to the countries in need despite its ongoing war with Russia. As part of the Grain from Ukraine program, partner countries purchase Ukrainian-produced grain and send it to the countries facing a humanitarian crisis. The program is implemented in partnership with the UN World Food Programme.

In Nigeria, the parties also discussed the possibility of establishing cooperation and expanding trade relations between the two countries, namely creating a logistics hub for regular grain and food product deliveries.

“Ukraine is interested in developing such a logistics project and is ready to consider the details,” Solskyi said following the meeting.
