New Polish Minister of Infrastructure Klimczak on unblocking the border: It will be very difficult
Poland’s new Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, called the protest of Polish carriers on the border with Ukraine “a Gordian knot that was tightening with every day of inaction of the predecessors” and admitted that it would be “very difficult to solve”.
A new government was appointed in Poland last week, and it started addressing the border issues today (December 18).
“This is the first time we can even start discussing the agreement on transport liberalization. We know that this agreement is a bone of contention, which is why carriers are protesting at the border,” the minister said.
Klimchak said that in a few days he is to meet with Ukrainian Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and speaks with the protesters every day.
“We are looking for a common denominator, which could at least allow us to suspend the protest,” the Polish official said.
As a reminder, Poland has been blocking four cargo checkpoints on the border with Ukraine since November.
