The ports of Mykolaiv and Olvia may be involved in the transportation of agricultural cargo under the grain deal. This was announced by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, during a meeting with representatives of the grain transportation market on Thursday, May 18.

“We have already received information that the issue of the ‘grain corridor’ has been resolved, and we are waiting for clarifications from the Ministry of Reconstruction and the Ministry of Agriculture. I think we will receive them in the next few hours or days, and we will resume transportation to the seaports,” said Valeriy Tkachev.

He also added that new ports are expected to join the agreement.

“It would be very good news if Mykolaiv and Olvia ports would be added to the grain corridor. This will increase transportation… For domestic logistics, it is much cheaper and closer to deliver to Mykolaiv than to deliver to Odesa or Chornomorsk,” added the UZ representative.

He later clarified that the issue is still about the release of blocked Turkish vessels from the ports of Mykolaiv and Olvia.
