Moldova plans to build a multimodal terminal
The first multimodal terminal in Moldova will be built at the Beresti railway station (Ungheni municipality). A feasibility study is currently underway. This is reported by Rail.insider with reference to the information of the State Enterprise “Moldovan Railways”.
The feasibility study for the creation of a multimodal logistics center is being developed with the support of the USAID Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA).
The feasibility study will include a comprehensive analysis of the existing freight transportation infrastructure, the possibility of developing a network connecting various terminals in the country and region, an assessment of costs and investment options, and the need to adjust the legal framework to support the development of such a logistics terminal.
“The development of a multimodal logistics terminal in Ungheni will ensure that our country is connected to international transport corridors and will strengthen the position of the Republic of Moldova as an important logistics hub in the region,” the Railways of Moldova emphasized.
