Moldova extends licensing of imports of agricultural products from Ukraine

The Moldovan government has extended for another 3 months the licensing regime for imports of three major crops – wheat, corn and sunflower seeds. This was reported by the press service of the Government of Moldova on March 26.

“Imports of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds to the Republic of Moldova will continue to be allowed on the basis of a license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. An application for an import license may be submitted by a legal entity or individual engaged in the production of oil and fats, flour milling products, and feed products. Requests are reviewed by a commission established by the Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova,” the statement said.

As a reminder, the licensing regime for imports of these crops to Moldova was introduced in October 2023 due to the demands of Moldovan farmers to ban their imports from Ukraine following the example of Eastern European countries.
