Minister of Defense of Ukraine discusses grain exports and security in the Black Sea in Turkey
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov arrived in Turkey to discuss the grain deal and security in the Black Sea. This was reported by Cumhuriyet.
A spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Defense said that Umerov held meetings with representatives of the Turkish ministry. According to the spokesman, Turkey supports the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The parties also discussed security in the Black Sea.
The Turkish Defense Ministry spokesperson emphasized that Turkey will continue to implement the Montreux Convention and will make efforts to restore the Black Sea Grain Initiative. It should be noted that Turkey remained a neutral country after the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
We were pleased to host Mr. Rustem Umerov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine. During the meeting, which was held in a very friendly and constructive atmosphere, we further strengthened our relations and our support for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We discussed our belief that tensions in the Black Sea are reduced by the Montreux Convention, which we will continue to implement uncompromisingly. We expressed our views on the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative,” the Turkish Defense Ministry spokesman said.
