“In 2022, milk production decreased by almost one million tons. According to the forecast for 2023, the reduction will be at the level of 300-400 thousand tons. Industrial production is expected to grow by 100-150 thousand tons. These are positive signals that despite the great difficulties, the dairy sector is developing steadily,” said Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy.

He also added that the introduction of European standards into Ukrainian legislation in the dairy sector is a good prospect for expanding successful export practices to the EU, as well as a way to improve product quality.

According to him, the government’s task is to adapt the legislation to the European regulatory framework and provide support to agricultural producers. In particular, financial support – milk producers can receive a grant of up to UAH 8 million for the processing of raw materials. In addition, informational and advisory trainings are held.

“Ukraine has experience in successfully exporting dairy products to the EU. Once Ukrainian legislation is adapted to EU standards, this market will expand. Ukrainian buyers will also benefit greatly, as they will be able to consume safe and high-quality products,” Vysotsky said.

Earlier it was reported that in September 2023, Ukraine exported 7.33 thousand tons of dairy products worth $14.05 million. Compared to August of this year, natural export volumes decreased by 30%, and cash revenue decreased by 43%.
