Meeting of the Coordination Platform on Export and Transit of Ukrainian Agricultural Products is scheduled for February 20

The European Commission said that tomorrow, February 20, the EU coordination group will meet on the export and transit of Ukrainian agricultural products amid the blockade of the border with Ukraine by Polish farmers. This was stated at a briefing by European Commission spokesman Olof Gill.

The representative of the European Commission was asked about the protests of Polish farmers who blocked the border with Ukraine, which resulted in thousands of trucks in queues.

“Contacts are ongoing between the European Commission and all member states affected. We believe that the right forum for finding medium- and long-term solutions is the EU coordination group that will meet tomorrow,” he said.

Gill also added that peaceful demonstrations are basic rights in the EU, but the European Commission has repeatedly stated that “there is no place for violence and national authorities are responsible for ensuring order.”

“It is therefore very important that national authorities protect passenger and freight transportation, which is essential for the proper functioning of our supply chains and the EU internal market,” he said.

Currently, Polish farmers are blocking six checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.
