Lithuania may ban imports and transit of Russian and Belarusian agricultural products

Lithuania may impose a temporary ban on the import and transit of agricultural products and feed of Russian and Belarusian origin. This is reported by Delfi.

The proposal to amend the law on agriculture, food and rural development was voiced by the chairman of the Seimas Committee on Economics, Kazis Starkevicius.

If the proposal is approved, the parliament of the republic will introduce a ban on “imports, imports and transit of agricultural products and feed originating from the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.”

This decision may be adopted for the period from April 15, 2024, until July 1, 2025.

Earlier it was reported that Lithuania is not going to ban imports of Russian and Belarusian grain after the Latvian parliament temporarily banned imports of agricultural products from these countries.
