Kazakh farmers harvested only 361.7 thousand tons of linseed at the end of last year, according to official statistics. Compared to 2022, the gross harvest of this crop decreased more than 2.3 times – from 845.6 thousand tons.

The yield of linseed in the Republic of Kazakhstan also sagged over the year – from 6.3 c/ha to 5 c/ha.

At the same time, the decline in oilseed production is primarily due to the reduction of sown areas – from 1.345 million hectares in 2022 to 726 thousand hectares. However, according to the Bureau of National Statistics, due to unfavorable weather conditions in Kazakhstan died about 96 thousand hectares of linseed crops.

It should be noted that by January 1 this year, domestic stocks of the crop amounted to 472 thousand tons against 786 thousand tons a year earlier.

Kazakhstan is among the three largest suppliers of linseed in the world market: from 2013 to 2022, the share of Kazakhstan in this market increased from 11% to 28%.
