Kazakhstan. Sunflower seed export potential fell by 35% compared to MY 2018/19

Sunflower seed exports from Kazakhstan in MY 2019/20 (September-July) fell from their record high to 286.1 KMT (-30% on the year), UkrAgroConsult reports.

Due to restrictions imposed on sunflower seed exports outside the EEU from April 12 to June 30, 2020, export potential in MY 2019/20 decreased considerably (-35% in MY 2018/19).

China is the largest importer, absorbing 63% of total exports. It increased purchases to 179.2 KMT vs 157.3 KMT a year earlier.

Accelerated exports of Kazakh sunflower seed was registered also Iran (+105%).

A slowdown in exports was observed to Afghanistan (-63%), Uzbekistan (-61%) and Tajikistan (-31%).
