Among the CIS countries, Uzbekistan (624.7 thsd tonnes), Tajikistan (125.8 thsd tonnes), and Turkmenistan (103.8 thsd tonnes) were the leaders in purchases of domestic grain. Afghanistan received 159.3 thousand tons, Italy – 104.7 thousand tons, and Turkey – 25.7 thousand tons.
According to Alexander Malov, chairman of the trade committee of the Grain Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the country will ship nine million tons of grain and flour to other countries by the end of August 2023. Two and a half million tons of grain crops need to be exported by September 1. Kazakhstan normally exports seven million tons in grain equivalent, but due to the large harvest in 2022, and even with the increase in exports, there will be a large carryover balance.
