Kazakhstan bans import of wheat by road for six months
Kazakhstan banned the import of wheat by road for six months. The corresponding order of Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev appeared in the bank of regulatory legal acts. As indicated in the document, the order was agreed with the National Security Committee.
The reason for the restriction was the fall in prices for wheat in Kazakhstan with large volumes of its illegal import. A ton of wheat has fallen in price by half to 80,000-85,000 tenge for several months.
One of the highest harvests in ten years was collected in Kazakhstan last year. 22 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were put into threshing, which is 35% more than in 2021. Wheat harvest increased by 38.9% to 16.4 million tons.
