Iran to halt wheat imports for almost a year
Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture reports that the country plans to stop importing wheat by March 2025, as domestic production is expected to be sufficient to meet demand, Asharq Al-Awsat reported.
However, it is not ruled out that the yield potential will significantly depend on the amount of precipitation during the crop maturation period.
It is noted that in 2023/24 MY domestic wheat production in Iran reached 10.5 million tons, and to meet domestic needs the country needed to import only 1 million tons of grain.
