Iran’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance for Economic Policy Seyed Ali Rouhani has said that Tehran is offering Moscow to use Iranian territory as a safe corridor for exporting Russian grain to third countries.

“We are talking about the fact that Iran can not only import grain from Russia to meet its own needs, but also provide its territory as a corridor for the export of Russian grain to third countries. the Russian side can count on Iran as a reliable and long-term partner,” Rouhani said.

At the same time, the deputy minister pointed out that Moscow has not yet used this opportunity.

“The conflict (war – ed.) in Ukraine and the ensuing Western sanctions against Russia have practically made the Iranian route a safe and alternative route for the export of Russian grain. Unfortunately, we are working a bit slowly in this direction… This route is certainly a path of long-term partnership and strategy,” the Iranian official said.

We would like to remind you that after the grain deal expired, Russia said that it would consider all ships moving towards Ukraine’s Black Sea ports to be carrying military cargo, while Ukraine responded by saying that it would also consider all ships moving to Russian ports and occupied Ukrainian ports to be legitimate targets. In this regard, the route through Iran may be an alternative for russia to supply grain to world markets.
