Industrial group expects higher wheat production in Brazil in the current season
Abitrigo, an industry group representing Brazilian millers, said on Tuesday the South American country could produce 10 million tonnes of wheat this season and not just 9 million tonnes as the government projects.
During an event of the fertilizer industry, Rubens Barbosa, head of Abitrigo, said that the investments to cultivate areas and wheat production suggest that Brazil, a net importer, can be self-sufficient in the cereal in five years, faster than the 10 years estimated by the Government.
