India’s palm oil imports rose to a three-month high in April
In April, India purchased about 1.3 million tons of vegetable oils on foreign markets, which is 13% higher than the level of March, according to the data of the national association of producers SEA.
In particular, according to experts’ estimates, imports of palm oil increased by 40.9% – up to 684.1 thousand tons, the highest value since January this year.
At the same time, imports of sunflower oil dropped almost 1.5 times – to 234.8 thousand tons, while supplies of soybean oil increased by 76.4% to 385.5 thousand tons.
The main suppliers of palm oil for India are Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Soybean oil is mainly purchased by traders from Argentina and Brazil. Sunflower oil is purchased from Ukraine and Russia.
