India: рrotest increasing against the stock limit

Индия

Pulses traders and pulse millers of Madhya Pradesh have rallied against the central government’s decision to impose stock limits on pulses and are meeting leaders to apprise them of their problems. Traders who are strongly opposing this decision say that imposing storage limit on pulses is not rational or practical.

The government is first encouraging the traders to buy pulses from the farmers at higher prices and later forcing them to sell them at lower prices. This caused great resentment among the traders and millers. The office bearers of Indore Grain Oilseeds Traders Association met the National General Secretary of BJP and urged them to make efforts to remove the storage limit on pulses.

Traders said that at present, the prices of pulses other than lentils are below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and in such a situation imposing stock limits is not justified. The BJP General Secretary talked to the Union Food Minister in this matter, but perhaps the matter did not work out, so he assured the traders that he would directly meet the Food Minister and discuss in this regard and the interests of the traders would be taken care of. Efforts will be made to make suitable amendments in this stock limit rule.

On the other hand, the President of Madhya Pradesh Gross Grain Pulses Oilseeds Traders Federation has said in a letter to the traders that the storage limit imposed by the government on all other pulses except moong is not proper. Traders were assured of fear-free, free and free from Inspector Raj, but the government has changed its policy.

Traders and millers had bought pulses from farmers at higher prices and indirectly they are being forced to sell it at lower prices. The Speaker has requested the traders to meet all the MPs, MLAs and public leaders and make them aware of the problem and express their protest. This rule is completely against the interests of the traders.
