India increased imports of palm olein and reduced purchases of sunflower oil

According to the monitoring data of the national association of producers SEA (Solvent Extractors’ Association of India), edible oil imports to India increased by 39% in June due to the increase in the supply of palm olein RBD.

The total volume of edible oil imports last month amounted to about 1.3 mln tonnes, up 24.5% compared to May. At the same time, imports of sunflower oil decreased by 35% to 198.8 thsd tonnes, although the imports exceeded the previous year’s figures.

In general, imports increased by more than 20% in the first eight months of the current season through October.

The volumes amounted to 139,932 tons of crude palm oil (CPO) and 15,126 tons of palm olein RBD.

Total palm oil imports to India in June amounted to 683,133 tons, compared to 439,173 tons in May.
