In order for Ukrainian grain to be on world markets, it is necessary to make logistics cheaper
Today, 30% of the price of grain is the cost of logistics. Therefore, it is extremely important to develop optimal solutions for its reduction. The future sowing campaign in Ukraine depends on this.
This was stated by the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, Mykola Gorbachev, during the Agro&Food Security Forum, which is being held in Warsaw under the auspices of the Association of Pulses Producers and Consumers of Ukraine and the UkrAgroConsult agency.
“Ukraine is one of the largest producers and exporters of grain: 100 million tons were produced last year. Exports could have reached 70 million tons, but this did not happen due to Russian aggression. Therefore, we have to look for new opportunities to export grain. One of them is export across the borders of neighboring countries, in particular Poland,” said Mykola Gorbachev.
According to him, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, grain was exported by rail and road transport, but these were insignificant volumes. But already in August, they reached the grain export figure of almost 3 million tons.
“Today, 15% of grain is exported from Ukraine by road transport. The governments of the two countries are doing everything they can to increase the scale of grain transportation,” noted Mykola Gorbachev.
