Importers of feed wheat will suffer first of all due to blockade of ports of Ukraine – Sergey Feofilov
Opportunities for Ukrainian farmers to supply their products to foreign markets are currently limited by logistics. Now it is possible to export grain from Ukraine only through the land western border, as all sea routes are blocked. Importers of Ukrainian wheat and corn will suffer from this.
This was stated by Director General of the consulting agency “UkrAgroConsult” Sergey Feofilov.
“The first to suffer from such logistical problems are importers of Ukrainian feed wheat, which is traditionally shipped in the second half of the season – Egypt, Turkey, Yemen, Morocco, Libya and Lebanon. Later, the negative impact of the situation in Ukraine will be felt by the EU – the main buyer of Ukrainian corn, most of which is grown for export, “said Sergey Feofilov.
According to him, Russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine has also led to a sharp rise in world prices for grain and oil. At the same time, energy prices and fertilizers became significantly more expensive.
“Many experts have already spoken out about the deteriorating food security situation in some countries,” Feofilov said.
