Huawei has become China’s largest importer of beef due to US sanctions
The sanctions imposed by the US on Huawei have forced the company to look for alternative ways to pay for its equipment. And here comes an interesting turn of events: Huawei is accepting meat and wine from Argentina as payment.
Because of sanctions, Argentina has faced restrictions on using dollars or yuan to pay for goods, which has led to the need to find other ways to pay. This led to an unusual bartering arrangement between Huawei and Argentina, where meat and wine became valuable commodities to pay for telecom equipment.
It is interesting to note that this is not the first time Huawei has used such strategies. Already in 2019, the company created a subsidiary called Mossel to handle such transactions. However, it is only now that this story has become widely discussed, probably due to the uniqueness and unusual nature of such an exchange.
This barter exchange between Huawei and Argentina demonstrates unconventional approaches to solving financial problems in the face of sanctions and restrictions. It also emphasizes the importance of flexibility and finding alternative ways in international business relationships.
