Grain negotiations with Ukraine are going in a “good direction” – Polish Minister of Agriculture

According to Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus, discussions on the supply of Ukrainian grain to Poland are moving in a “good direction” after “certain emotions” have calmed down. This is reported by CNN.

“I am glad that we had this meeting. I’m glad that we’re talking about the future, that we’re building mechanisms for the future and we’re calming certain emotions that, as you all know, have not served us well, and this is probably a good direction,” Telus said.

He said that his colleague Mykola Solsky said that he would talk to Ukraine’s economy minister about withdrawing the complaint against Poland in the WTO.

“That would be good, because if we want to talk, we want to look for solutions, and I think we all want to look for long-term solutions, not just here and now, but solutions for a longer period, then this prick is unnecessary, because it is a kind of splinter when it comes to the complaint that should be withdrawn,” Telus emphasized.

Poland is also “at the final stage” of negotiations with Lithuania on organizing the transit of Ukrainian grain to Lithuanian ports.

“The Ukrainian minister also proposed to transfer the same control to the German side, we are talking about German ports, so that they are not on the Polish-Ukrainian border, but in German ports. I promised that we would consider it,” Telus said.

As a reminder, Ukraine has developed a procedure for verifying exports of 4 crops in accordance with the European Commission’s decision. And currently, it does not export agricultural products to the 5 border countries without their approval.
