Grain exports down by 15% as of Dec 28
Ukrainian agrarians exported over 25 million tonnes of grain in the new marketing year (MY, July 2020 – June 2021) as of December 28, 2020, which was 15% down from December 28, 2019.
In particular, about 12.5 million tonnes of wheat was exported. Exports of barley totaled nearly 4 million tonnes, and those of corn stood at over 8.5 million tonnes, the TV news service TSN.ua reported with reference to the State Fiscal Service.
- Ukraine’s Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture and traders agreed that wheat exports should not exceed 17.5 million tonnes in MY 2020-2021, while those of rye 16,000 tonnes.
- Ukraine in MY 2019-2020 exported record high 57.2 million tonnes of grain and legumes, as well as flour onto foreign markets.
- Ukrainian agrarians exported 24.75 million tonnes of grain in MY 2020-2021 as of December 23, 2020, which was 4.7 million tonnes, or 16%, down from December 23, 2019.
- The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture and relevant associations agreed not to impose restrictions on grain exports at a meeting held on December 22, 2020.
