French soft wheat export forecast lowered
Analysts at FranceAgriMer, the national agriculture and fisheries agency, have cut their forecast for French soft wheat exports outside the European Union in the 2023/24 season from the previously expected 10.15 million tons to 10 million tons.
Meanwhile, the forecast for French grain ending stocks has been slightly increased from last month’s expected 3.74 million tons to 3.75 million tons, still above the 2022/23 season level (2.54 million tons).
At the same time, forecasts for barley are lowered to 1.66 (vs. 1.75; 1.01) million tons and corn to 2.34 (vs. 2.43; 1.65) million tons.
It is worth noting that the proportion of soft wheat crops in France in good to excellent condition continues to decline. The reason is excessively wet weather conditions in many regions of the country.
