FranceAgriMer sees wheat 2024/25 exports and stocks down on poor crop
France, the European Union’s biggest grain producer, is expected to see its exports and stocks of soft wheat decline sharply this season due to a poor harvest, farm office FranceAgriMer said on Thursday.
Soft wheat exports outside the EU were pegged at 7.5 million tons, down from 10.2 million in 2023/24, while end of season stocks were projected to drop to 3 million tons from 3.83 million.
The projections were tentative given uncertainty over the harvest after a rain-blighted growing season and forecasts were likely to be revised down given latest indications that the harvest will be worse than previously thought, Benoit Pietrement, head of FranceAgriMer’s grain committee, told reporters.
