Experts predict a decline in the EU rapeseed harvest
The rape harvest in the EU countries may drop from last year’s 19.8 million tons to 19.4 million tons this year, according to experts of the European Commission. Experts link this forecast to low temperatures and heavy precipitation in the EU, which may affect the state of oilseed crops.
In this case, the leader, as well as in 2023, in terms of rapeseed production will remain France with the result of 4.435 million tons (4.269 million tons a year earlier).
But the yield in other key regions is expected to decrease: in Germany from 4.239 to 4.06 million tons; in Poland from 3.685 to 3.486 million tons; in Romania from 1.945 million tons to 1.739 million tons; in the Czech Republic from 1.293 to 1.146 million tons.
However, we note that the current estimate of the European Commission is noticeably higher than the forecast of the International Grain Council (18.8 million tons).
