The European Commission will allocate 50 million euros to restore Ukrainian ports affected by Russian attacks.

This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Twitter.

In a letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, she said that EUR 50 million from the EU for the rapid repair and renewal of the infrastructure of Ukrainian ports should facilitate further exports of agricultural products to the world market.

“Despite the war, Ukraine continues to feed the world. You can count on the EU in these efforts. We continue to expand our ‘solidarity lanes’ and will allocate €50 million to repair your port infrastructure. Together we are sending Ukrainian grain to the world,” Ursula von der Leyen wrote.

She added that in October 2023, Ukraine exported 4.6 mln tons of grain, of which 3.6 mln tons were shipped by sea, and 1 mln tons by rail and road.

As a reminder, in 2023, grain transshipment in Ukrainian ports increased by 70%. In 10 months of 2023, Ukrainian seaports handled over 46 mln tons of cargo.
