Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen have held talks on a new series of proposals that the European Commission will offer to Poland to resolve the farmers’ protest.

This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen following talks with the Polish Prime Minister, according to the European Commission’s website.

During the conversation, the head of the European Commission said that European institutions are currently considering the possibility of imposing an embargo on imports of agricultural products from the Russian Federation, which was a condition for the corresponding concessions from Ukraine.

“The European Commission is assessing the possibility of imposing restrictions on imports of agricultural products from Russia to the European Union,” the European Commission said in a press release.

There are new proposals for Polish farmers as well. The EC proposes to exempt small farms of up to 10 hectares from control and fines related to the new requirements for agricultural products in the EU. The respective mitigations can be applied to all EU farmers.

“These changes will make it possible to apply certain standards in a way that is more compatible with the everyday realities that farmers face in their lives,” the statement said.

The European Commission adds that such proposals are a direct response to the proposals received from farmers in Poland and abroad.
