Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis has invited trade ministers of five countries, whose leaders have sent a joint letter to the EC, to talks on the issue of Ukrainian grain, РАР reports.

The talks will take place on Wednesday, April 19, in the afternoon in the form of a video conference.

These are Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia. In late March, the leaders of these countries wrote a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen demanding that she intervene in the situation with the influx of Ukrainian grain into the EU. The initiative came from the Polish side.

As a reminder, the European Commission is considering an additional support package of EUR 100 million for farmers affected by the influx of Ukrainian agricultural products. The EC also reacted to Hungary and Poland’s ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine and stated that trade policy is only within the competence of the EU and that unilateral actions are unacceptable.
