European Commission has already prepared a proposal to ban Russian grain
The European Commission has drafted a decision to ban imports of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus to the EU. This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, according to the EC.
“We have prepared a proposal to increase tariffs on Russian and Belarusian imports of grains, oilseeds and processed products. And there are several good reasons to make this proposal. It will prevent Russian grain from destabilizing the EU market for these products. It will stop Russia from using the proceeds from exporting these products to the EU. And it will ensure that illegal Russian exports of stolen Ukrainian grain do not enter the EU market,” she said.
As it is known, five EU countries – Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and the Czech Republic – have previously asked the European Commission to ban imports of Russian agricultural products.
