The European Commission has extended until September 15 the ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine to five EU countries – Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. This was reported by PAP with reference to a source in the European Commission.

“The European Commission has extended until mid-September the European ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunseed from Ukraine,” the source said.

As reported, on May 2, the European Commission imposed a temporary ban on the export of four agricultural products from Ukraine – wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunseed – to five EU countries. This restriction was imposed as an exception and was to remain in effect until June 5, 2023.

At the same time, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia pledged to cancel their unilateral measures to ban imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. This decision was one of the prerequisites for extending the benefits for Ukrainian exports to the EU for another year.
