EU countries increased wheat exports by 11% in the current season

During the fifty weeks of the current season, the EU countries exported 31.3 mln tonnes of wheat, which is 11% more than in the same period last season. This was reported by the European Commission.

Exports of soft wheat in the current season reached 30.0 mln tonnes (+13%), durum – 0.713 mln tonnes (-27%), and flour from soft wheat – 0.443 mln tonnes (-14%).

France remains the largest exporter of wheat among the EU countries, which supplied 10.2 mln tonnes to the foreign markets this season. It is followed by Romania (4.2 million tons) and Germany (3.7 million tons).

The main export destinations of soft wheat from the European Union in the current season were Morocco (4.7 mln tonnes), Algeria (4.1 mln tonnes), Nigeria (2.8 mln tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (1.5 mln tonnes).

Durum wheat was purchased mainly by Tunisia (0.2 mln tonnes), the UAE, Tanzania, Israel and Algeria.
