Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he will hold talks with Russian dictator Putin to revive the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

“We will meet with Putin soon and say: Let’s do everything we can to keep the grain corridor operational. I hope we will continue our way with positive responses,” Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying.

The Turkish President called the grain corridor mechanism a “positive step” that leads to “justice” around the world.

“Let’s find a way to manage the grain corridor no matter what,” he said.

As reported, on July 17, 2023, Russia withdrew from the Black Sea grain deal, saying that the Russian part of the agreement had not been fulfilled.

The agreement, originally signed in July 2022 in Istanbul by Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine, was aimed at restoring grain exports from Ukrainian ports.

In August, Ukraine announced that temporary corridors had been created for merchant ships arriving at and departing from the country’s Black Sea ports.

On August 10, the Ukrainian Navy announces new temporary routes for civilian ships to and from Black Sea ports after the grain deal is suspended.
