Erdogan and Putin had a telephone conversation. They discussed the war in Ukraine and the continuation of the “grain initiative”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, TRT Haber reports.
The parties discussed Turkish-Russian relations, the war in Ukraine, and the work of the grain initiative.
Erdogan noted Russia’s contribution to the construction of the Turkish Akkuyu nuclear power plant, where the first nuclear fuel delivery ceremony will take place on April 27.
Regarding the continuation of the grain initiative, Erdogan said that new proposals could be worked out through a working group.
The presidents of Turkey and Russia also discussed the events in Syria.
As a reminder, on April 19, the inspection of the Grain Initiative vessels in the Bosphorus resumed despite Russia’s attempts to disrupt the deal. However, yesterday, on April 26, Russia blocked the Black Sea grain corridor – at the joint coordination center in Istanbul, Russian representatives refused to coordinate the movement of ships through the humanitarian corridor to and from Ukrainian seaports.
