Either Ukraine comes to an agreement with us or there will be new import restrictions, – Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland Kolodziejczak

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland Michal Kolodziejczak did not rule out further restrictions on Ukrainian imports. He said this in an interview with Polsat News.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture was asked whether the government was considering a unilateral embargo on imports of agri-food products from Ukraine. According to Kolodziejczak, such an option would not be ruled out in the absence of cooperation from the Ukrainian side.

“The ball is in Ukraine’s court. Either you reach an agreement with Poland, or we will be forced to impose further restrictions on imports of Ukrainian goods,” said Kolodziejczak.

Currently, Poland cannot import wheat, corn, sunflower and rapeseed.

Kolodziejczak said that Minister Czeslaw Sekerski is to hold talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solsky on Wednesday.

A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also announced that negotiations with the protesting farmers will begin next week.

Kolodziejczak also said that reports that Ukrainian grain remains in Poland despite the embargo have not been confirmed, but at the same time, Ukrainian products are replacing Polish ones on the German market.
