EC examines the impact of Russian fertilizer and grain imports on the EU market
The European Commission is studying the impact of Russian fertilizer and grain imports on the EU market and assessing the need to take measures. This was announced at a press conference in Brussels by the EC representative Olaf Gill.
“We are looking closely at the facts, monitoring the flow of these products, how they affect our market, our farmers. We will continue to monitor, if the facts say that further steps are needed, we will consider them,” he said when asked by reporters whether the EC was studying the adoption of restrictive measures against fertilizers and grain from rf.
The EC spokesman confirmed that imports of grain and fertilizers from russia are currently not part of the sanctions packages as the EU does not want countries in need of these russian products to suffer. “This has been the position so far,” he added.
