Each vessel with grain that Ukraine sends as part of the Grain From Ukraine program provides food for an average of 90 thousand people. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

“Grain From Ukraine is primarily a humanitarian initiative. It is planned to provide grain to countries on the verge of famine. Each ship with grain sent as part of Grain From Ukraine meets the food needs of an average of 90,000 people,” the statement said.

It is noted that despite the war and all the difficulties associated with a full-scale invasion, Ukraine continues to worry about the food security of the world.

The Ministry reminds that the fifth vessel within the Grain From Ukraine program has been loaded at the port of Chornomorsk, which will deliver 25 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat to the Republic of Kenya (Mombasa port). The donor countries that paid for the purchase of grain, freight, logistics and distribution of this shipment were the United Kingdom, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.

As reported, the Grain from Ukraine program was initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It involves the purchase of Ukrainian grain by partner countries and its transfer to countries affected by the humanitarian crisis. The program is implemented in partnership with the World Food Program under the auspices of the United Nations.

More than 30 countries have joined the program, providing a total of nearly $200 million in funding. Within the framework of Grain from Ukraine, 110 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat have already been delivered to some of the most socially vulnerable countries in Africa – Ethiopia and Somalia.
