Due to russia’s blockade, the daily number of vessels with Ukrainian grain entering the corridor has fallen to an all-time low

In January, the number of ships leaving Ukrainian ports was 2.7, which means that on average it was 2-3 ships per day. In fact, this was considered one of the lowest figures for all the months of the grain initiative. It was due to the artificial blocking of the grain corridor by Russian inspectors. However, in recent days, as of the end of January, the situation has been deteriorating and the daily number of vessels has dropped to 2.5. This is an anti-record figure. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Despite this, the average tonnage of shipments per vessel in January remained at 37 thousand tons, which is the best indicator for the Corridor’s operation. However, this did not have a positive impact on the total number of shipments in January. Thus, in the first month of the new year, only 2.4 million tons of grain left the Corridor, while in September and October it was more than 4 million tons. In January, 540 thousand tons of wheat were shipped, including 61 thousand tons to Africa.

In total, Ukraine has already shipped 675 vessels with a cargo of 18.4 million tons as part of the grain initiative. The share of Africa is 2.3 million tons, Asia – 5.1 million tons, Europe – 7.5 million tons, and the Middle East – 3.4 million tons.
