Corn starch exports from Ukraine down fourfold
Exports of Ukrainian starch since the beginning of the season had totaled 4.45 KMT (down 75% on the year). Only 1.86 KMT of corn starch was exported in October (-28% from September, -78% from October 2019/20).
Such a drop in exports was caused by a production decline in September-October (down 33% on the year), UkrAgroConsult reports.
All major buyers reduced imports from last year. The only exception is Belarus, which just slightly stepped them up (+9% from 2019).
The greatest decrease is observed in exports to last season’s top destination, Indonesia, which purchased 25 times less than a year earlier. The following countries slashed imports as well: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the EU and Malaysia.
