According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Australia exported 2,718,404 tons of wheat and 500 tons of durum wheat in January.

This figure is 97% higher than the total exports in December, with the main reason being a surge in shipments to China.

Australia shipped 156,540 tons of soft wheat and 500 tons of durum wheat in January, with the top three markets being Taiwan at 26,014 tons, Thailand at 22,278 tons and Indonesia at 22,078 tons.

Bulk exports in January totaled 2,561,864 tons of wheat, with China being the largest destination at 960,328 tons.

While January containerized wheat exports to China were up 32% from December, bulk exports more than quadrupled from 234,410 tons.

The second largest market for bulk wheat exports in January was Indonesia with 525,913 tons, more than triple the December volume of 155,280 tons.

Bulk shipments to the Philippines (217,104 tons) rose slightly over the month, which moved the country into third place, and Japan was the fourth largest bulk market with 212,626 tons.

Mass exports to Japan were more than three times the December figure
