The current forecasts for Bulgaria’s 2020/21 sunseed crop are adjusted downwardly. The problem of moisture shortages, which is faced by all Black Sea countries, affected Bulgarian growers as well. The balance of sunflower seed demand and supply is becoming tighter, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Despite of the planted area is record large, the sunseed crop will fall, showing a third consecutive decrease after the 2017/18 record.
As before, priority is given to processing sunflower seed inside the country. The share of domestic crush remains high as last year.
Sunflower seed imports will offset the crop decline and remain high for Bulgaria. According to real-time information, September already witnessed the first sunseed cargoes imported from Russia and Ukraine, which are also expected to experience a crop decline.
