Bulgaria lifts unilateral ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine

The Bulgarian Council of Ministers has lifted the national ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine.

This became known on May 5 during a working meeting between Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Yavor Getchev and his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solsky, the press service of the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture reported.

In addition, the ministries of agriculture of Bulgaria and Ukraine are beginning to prepare a joint declaration on mechanisms of influence in case of market shocks, including sharp price changes, in bilateral trade in sunflower oil.

“Bulgaria and Ukraine can work together to find long-term solutions for the accelerated transit of agricultural goods to third countries and propose them to the European Commission,” said Gecev.

He assured that efforts are currently focused on developing logistics systems that will make the solidarity routes work and fulfill the function for which they were created.

As a reminder, on Tuesday, May 2, the Ministry of Development and Technology of Poland canceled its own unilateral resolution banning the import of certain agricultural products from Ukraine following the decision of the European Commission.
