The Brazilian consulting company JOB Economia e Planejamento expects that in the current season of 2024/25 MY in Central and Southern Brazil, the share of sugar cane intended for sugar production will increase to 50.8%, which will be a record value for the industry.

This is reported by Reuters.

According to data previously published by the industry group UNICA, in the second half of May in Brazil, the share of sugar cane used for sugar production decreased to 48.28%, compared to 48.65% a year earlier.

The total sugar production in Brazil in the season 2024/25 MY should increase by 1.3% and reach 46.3 million tons. This value will depend on the policy of sugar mills on the distribution of cane between sugar and ethanol production.
