Among the main export destinations between January and September, China remains in the lead, with 311.1 thousand tons (-2.1% compared to the same period in 2022). “We see a movement of strong increase in imports from markets other than China and Hong Kong, involving, in particular, countries in Asia and the Americas. One of the main highlights is in Mexico, which is already among the 10 largest importers of pork in Brazil in September, with more than 5,000 tons imported in the month,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
Santa Catarina remains the main exporter of pork in Brazil, with 495.5 thousand tons shipped between January and September, a number 10.9% higher than that recorded in the same period of 2022. “In addition to Mexico, pork sales have gained new destinations, which already signal good volumes shipped this year,” said ABPA director of markets Luís Rua. “This is the case of Canada, which has been increasing its purchases month by month, as well as the Dominican Republic, which registered its first import of pork from Brazil this month.”
