The blockade of the Yagodyn-Dorogusk checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border has been extended until February 1, 2024. This was announced by the leader of the Polish carriers blocking the border, Rafał Mekler of the far-right National Movement.

“We have submitted another application. The protest in Dorohusk has been extended until February 1, 2024. Accepted without reservations,” he wrote on Facebook.

Meckler also announced the expansion of the blockade to the fourth checkpoint, Medyka-Shehini, starting November 23.

“Farmers are coming to Medyka on Thursday. Together we can do more,” he wrote.

Earlier, he stated that Ukrainian trucks were entering through the blocked border crossing points accompanied by police. In particular, the trucks allegedly passed without queues with the police at the Krakovets-Korchova checkpoint.

As a reminder, on November 6, Polish carriers went on strike and blocked truck traffic across the Ukrainian-Polish border. In particular, the movement of freight transport in the direction of the three largest checkpoints “Korczowa-Krakowiec”, “Hrebenne-Rava Ruska”, “Dorohusk-Yagodyn” is blocked.

The protesters are demanding a ban on the registration of transport companies with foreign capital in Poland, which is forcing Polish entrepreneurs out of the market. They are also demanding the restoration of entry permits to the European Union for Ukrainian carriers and improved border services. The action of Polish carriers was planned to last for two months, until the end of the year.

Negotiations between Ukrainian government officials and the protesters did not yield any results, and Mustafa Nayyem, head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development, emphasized that Ukraine would not even discuss some of the demands of Polish carriers.
