Barley exports from Russia recovered in May
Almost 551 KMT of Russian barley was exported in May. This is 48% more from April and four times as much as in May 2019/20. 6.2 MMT had been exported since the beginning of the season (+43% y-o-y).
The highest volumes in May went to the traditional destinations: Saudi Arabia (257 KMT) and Iran (153 KMT), UkrAgroConsult reports.
Most importers increased purchases compared to last season: Saudi Arabia (+57% y-o-y), Libya (+41%), Jordan (+98%), Tunisia (up sixfold), Israel (threefold).
A drop in demand was registered from the following countries: Iran (-20% y-o-y) and Turkey (-6%).
