Australia will once again harvest a record 37 thousand tons of sunseed
The sunseed crop in Australia seems to be stabilizing, and ABARES forecasts that the total production of the oilseed will reach 37,000 tons in 2023-24 MY, the same as in 2022-23 MY. These two seasons will see the largest harvest since 2012-13.
The high volumes are driven by optimal production in New South Wales, which is projected to reach 32,000 tons, double the five-year average.
Queensland is the next largest producer, with an estimate of 5,000 tons in 2023-24. This will be the same volume as last season, but lower than the five-year average of 6,800 tons.
