In Australia, workers’ strikes continue at sugar factories, which have resulted in almost two weeks’ delay in the start of cane processing at 9 sugar factories.

This is reported by Reuters.

According to analysts, the risks of a decline in sugar production jeopardize its exports. An additional negative factor is unfavorable weather conditions – the drought, along with a shortage of precipitation, has been going on for the second year in a row.

According to the International Sugar Organization, Australia’s annual sugar production is about 4 million tons, with domestic consumption of 1.1 million tons. Australia is the fourth largest sugar exporter in the world, supplying about 3.5 million tons of sugar to the global market annually.
