Australia reduced canola exports in June
In June, Australia sold about 329.1 thsd tonnes of canola to the foreign markets, down 35% compared to May 2023, Grain Central reports, citing the data of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
It is noted that during the reporting period, the biggest volumes of the oilseed were exported to Pakistan, Japan and Belgium – 120.6 thsd tonnes, 71.8 thsd tonnes and 62.06 thsd tonnes, respectively.
“According to the market operators’ expectations, the export volumes of Australian canola, before the new oilseed harvest in November, will be about 150-300 thsd tonnes per month,” the report says.
In addition, according to ABS, in the period from October 2022 to June 2023, the exports of the Australian crop increased to 4.81 mln tonnes (+0.17 mln tonnes per year).
“In 2022/23 MY, the key destinations of the oilseed for the country are Belgium – 887.5 thsd tonnes, Germany – 783.3 thsd tonnes and UAE – 678.7 thsd tonnes,” – explained the ABS.
